With hundreds of trips made daily on
transit, public transportation serves a critical role in moving people across
the region.
RSRTC has created a thorough list of
public transportation etiquette and guidelines that are widely recognised as
courteous and respectful policies, but are not often practiced.
·
When
boarding the bus, form an orderly queue. Pushing or pulling is not an alternative.
·
Let passengers exit first-
Allow people to exit first when the bus doors open before attempting to board.
To make room for individuals exiting, stand to the right or left of the doors.
·
Pay your fare and travel with a ticket- If you are travelling without a ticket you might
be charged with a fine double the amount of your ticket because of penalty. So,
adhere to the norms and travel by ticket.
·
Refrain
having loud conversations, this means no loud chats on your
phone, not just with your friends and fellow travelers. If at all feasible, set
your phone to vibrate. Be considerate of other passengers too.
·
Avoid
excessive baggage for a hassle free journey for you as
well as for other passengers.
·
Cover
your mouth when you sneeze or cough If
you're not feeling well, don't travel. Coughing or sneezing in your hand to
spread germs to poles, door handles, or chairs is not a good idea.
·
Do
not litter or damage bus property, everything from scratching windows, destroying seats,
graffiti, and even peeling off information and directional stickers could
result in a penalty for you.
·
Book
single seat for single person and not for luggage- Do
not place bags or packages in the middle of an aisle or seats. Book seats as
per the no of passengers travelling. Your extra seat for extra space could be
required by a needful person.
Join us in promoting courteous behaviour on public
transportation, as even the smallest gestures can make everyone's transit
experience more joyful and beneficial, including your own. Because riding the
bus requires sharing a tiny space, it is critical that all passengers treat one
another with decency and respect.
